Visa

Citizens of most countries require valid visa to enter Bangladesh. The Bangladesh High Commission in Canberra determines the type and category of visa and duration of stay upon receiving an application. The types and categories differ according to the purpose of visit, length of stay and bilateral arrangement with the country of the foreign national.

Applicants, who wish to submit their applications in person at the High Commission, are requested to do so between 9.30 am to 12.30 pm on the working days. No application in person would be received beyond this time except in case of emergency. Therefore, the High Commission requests all concerned (particularly those who are living in Sydney) to plan their travel to the High Commission, Canberra accordingly.

 

Tourist Visa

  1. Passport with minimum 6 (six) months validity.
  2. Filled-in visa application Form ( BF -12). Tourist visa is not issued with multiple entries. (Incomplete application will be returned without visa.)
  3. Appropriate amount of Visa fee through Bank Cheque/Postal Money Order in favour of "Bangladesh High Commission, Canberra".
  4. Two recent photographs (size: 50 mm high X 40 mm wide or close to this).
  5. Self-addressed pre-paid registered envelope or return pre-paid courier.

Note: Applicants may be asked to produce different kinds of documents including confirmed air ticket, Bank Statement, personal invitation from Bangladesh, travel plan etc and may be interviewed. Naturalised foreign nationals of Bangladesh origin, their spouses and children and foreign spouses and children of Bangladesh nationals can apply for a multiple entry 01 (one) year visa. In such cases, applications must be supported by marriage certificate (in case of application concerning foreign spouses) or birth certificate of the children (in case of application concerning children), proof of Bangladesh origin (i.e., Bangladesh passport or foreign passport with 'No visa' seal) and an undertaking from the naturalised foreign nationals of Bangladesh origin/Bangladesh nationals as to their relationship with the applicants.

 

Business Visa

  1.  Passport with minimum 6 (six) months validity.
  2.  Filled-in application Form ( BF-12)(Incomplete application will be returned without visa)
  3.  Appropriate amount of Visa fee through Bank Cheque/Postal Money Order in favour of "Bangladesh High  Commission, Canberra".
  4.  Two recent photographs (size: 50 mm high X 40 mm wide or close to this).
  5.   Invitation letter from Bangladesh Business Organisation/ Establishment or letter from local Business organization with ABN identification.
  6. Self-addressed pre-paid registered envelope or pre-paid return courier.

"No Visa Required" seal

    1. Australian/New Zealand passport on which endorsement is required.
    2. Filled-in application form for "No Visa Required" seal. (NVR Form) (Incomplete application form will be returned without "No Visa Required" seal).
    3. Two recent photographs (size: 50 mm high X 40 mm wide or close to this).
    4. Bank Cheque/ Postal Money Order in favour of "Bangladesh High Commission, Canberra" for an amount of A$80.00 in case of obtaining the seal for the first time and transferring the same from old Australian/New Zealand passport to a new one.
    5. For obtaining "No Visa Required" seal for the first time: Original Bangladesh Passport (valid or expired). In case of children without holding valid or expired Bangladesh passports: (a) copy of birth certificate [or original Bangladesh passport (valid or expired) of mother in which the child(ren) is/are endorsed]; and (b) original Bangladesh passport (valid or expired) of father [or Australian/New Zealand passport of father containing "No Visa Required" seal].
    6. For transfer of "No Visa Required" seal from expired Australian/New Zealand passport to new Australian/New Zealand passport: Original expired Australian/New Zealand passport containing "No Visa Required" seal.
    7. Self-addressed pre-paid registered envelope or pre-paid return courier.
    8. "No Visa Required" seal will remain valid as long as the Australian/New Zealand passport remains valid.
    9. Basic Information (name, date of birth, place of birth) of an individual must be exactly the same in different documents (e.g. Bangladesh Passport and Australian/New Zealand Passport).

"No Visa Required" seal for foreign wives and children of naturalised foreign nationals of Bangladesh origin/Bangladesh nationals

    1. Australian/ New Zealand passport on which endorsement is required.
    2. Filled-in application form for "No Visa Required" seal. (NVR Form)

(Incomplete application form will be returned without visa).

    1.  Bangladesh Passport of Husband (in case of application concerning foreign wives)/Father (in case of application concerning children).
    2. Original Marriage certificate (in case of application concerning foreign wives)/Original Birth Certificate (in case of application concerning children) and one photocopy. (Original marriage/birth certificate will be returned upon processing).
    3. Two recent photographs (50 mm high X 40 mm wide or close to this).
    4.  Bank Cheque/ Postal Money Order in favour of "Bangladesh High Commission, Canberra" for an amount of A$80.00 in case of obtaining the seal for the first time and transferring the same from old Australian/New Zealand passport to a new one.
    5.  Self-addressed pre-paid registered envelope or pre-paid return courier.
    6. 'No Visa Required' stamp will remain valid as long as the Australian/New Zealand passport remains valid.
    7. Basic Information (name, date of birth, place of birth, father's name, mother's name) of an individual must be exactly the same in different documents.

Processing Time
   
Please note: For most consular services, except for passport in lieu of lost passport, processing period is minimum seven working days.  Passports issued/renewed on an urgent basis require minimum two working days.  No consular application will be processed unless specific requirements thereby are met.  

Mode of Payment

Bank Cheque or Postal money Order in favour of “Bangladesh High Commission, Canberra” Personal Cheques and cash are not accepted. Fee for multiple applicants seeking same kind of consular work ( for e.g. 4 persons applying for 'No Visa Required' stamp) may be paid in single cheque/money order. But multiple applicants seeking different kinds of consular works together (for e.g. 3 persons applying for 'No Visa Required' stamp and 1 person applying for Visa) must make payment in separate cheques/money orders.

Arrangement for Return Delivery

All applicants are requested to provide self addressed registered envelope. Applicants from New Zealand, who opt for postal delivery, are requested to provide 22 (twenty two) international coupons for international registered postal service which is traceable.  However, the High Commission would recommend that New Zealand applicants arrange the courier service (DHL/TNT/NZ Courier) for their parcels which may be a bit expensive but should be safe and traceable. The applicants are also requested to arrange drop and pick up by the courier agent as this mission will not take any responsibility for arranging the courier service

Time and Method of enquiry

  • Please do not call us to enquire about whether the High Commission has received your documents as those are sent by registered mail. However, you may check this with the Post Office or Courier Service whether it has been delivered to the High Commission.
  • All enquiries by telephone, in relation to Consular matter, should be made from 0900 hrs to 1300 hrs. Urgent enquiry beyond that period can be made by sending e-mail or by fax. In such cases, name, contact phone number, e-mail address and the nature of the query should be clearly stated. Concerned officials will attend to such queries as soon as possible.
